Week 5 To-Do:
Covering the couch and any other visible assets with ivy geo
Finalize movement of vines and ivy
Finalize grass density and movement
Camera setup to integrate Live Action plates
1/31
Here is the implementation from the mentor's critique:
This is the basic setup for the grass. We're looking to explore different height variations and densities in this upcoming week. 'Grass Motion Setup' is a Vellum test so see the interaction between our plant growth and how the grass rig moves.
(The grass on the table will be corrected this week to be solely on the ground!)
I changed the growth of the 'SmallVines' and 'LargeVine' to be more realistic by removing the curl at the start of the growth. I also included the suggested branches growing out from the main body and added a little bit of a 'sway' as they move outwards. The movement is referenced based on root growths as timelapses of the vines I had in mind are tricky to come across
I'm not fond of the LargeVine just yet. I think I need to straighten its' curve out and slow down the growth so it matches more to the reference video to the right.
Going into next week, I will finalize the look and
movement of all vines, ferns, and ivy.

We filmed our Live-Action plates today!
I'm glad we could get this out of the way early so our compositor has the proper time to clean them up.
Moving forward, we will be correcting our CG cameras to our Live-Action plates to get the correct perspective setup.

Things to correct in my work based on the Mentors' critique:
The vines needs to grow realistically. They look too cartoon-ish
Timing variations in plants
Vines move too snake-like. Add branches coming out of the vines
Realistic movement is high priority
I want to start implementing the Mentor's feedback asap into my previz for today. I don't think I used enough real-world references of the vine movement, so I did a quick search and found better realistic inspirations:
Vine References
My quick deep-dive made me realize how hard it is to find real-world time lapses of vines. The closest I got to the movement I wanted were seed roots. The timing would be different because the plant is pushing through dirt, but we plan on adding grass as a collision object to get more realistic 'twists-and-turns' as the vine moves on the ground.
